Strawberry Hill Nature Preserve partnered with PennTrails, Inc., to develop and implement South Mountain Outdoors as a Labor Day celebration of the outdoor recreation and entertainment opportunities that exist on the South Mountain landscape. South Mountain Outdoors was designed to be a “dispersed festival” – with events and activities occurring simultaneously across the South Mountain landscape over the Labor Day weekend. This inaugural celebration was highly successful for building collaboration amongst public and private partners, and South Mountain Outdoors continued as an annual event for three years; in 2014, South Mountain Outdoors was suspended due to logistical challenges and resource constraints.
