Caledonia Ironworks was burned by the Army of Northern Virginia as it marched eastward to a small unknown village called Gettysburg. Owned by Congressman Thaddeus Stevens, Caledonia employed African-Americans, which made this community a convenient hiding place for freedom seekers on the Underground Railroad. Come learn about our connections to the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the US Constitution.
Join park staff every Saturday from July to September 5 from 2-4 pm to see how the area ties to the Civil War. Participation is limited to 10 people due to the pandemic. A mask is required.
