Laurel Lake, located in Pine Grove Furnace State Park (PGFSP), is a popular recreation destination in the South Mountain landscape. Increasingly the boating, swimming and fishing opportunities are being compromised by vegetative growth in the lake. This project will implement an initial year-long monitoring of physical, chemical, and biological properties of the lake; completed in collaboration with PGFSP staff, this data will be instrumental in helping to inform management choices related to the treatment and/or removal of aquatic vegetation within the lake. This year-long monitoring program is intended to be the initial dataset in a longitudinal study of the lake’s physical, chemical, and biological properties.
