The Appalachian Trail Museum is continuing its efforts to improve the interior form and function of the Old Mill structure in Pine Grove Furnace State Park. The work items were identified from their 2012 architectural work and construction documents. This project will help the museum to accomplish several long-term objectives which include: increase visitors and relevancy and form the 2nd and 3rd floors into areas that highlight the contemporary Appalachian Trail hiking experience; expand staff by creating functional spaces for the museum manager, interns, and future staff; expand services such as programming, workshops, and seminars through the creation of the research library; expand partnerships with private collectors and museums by achieving greater exhibit space.
